Perikatan Nasional (PN) has finalised the distribution of seats among its three components parties for the coming elections in six states, with PAS to contest under its own logo in its strongholds of Kelantan and Terengganu.
In a statement, the coalition said it would contest all 245 seats across the six states.
PAS will run in 126 seats, Bersatu in 83 and Gerakan in 36.
Of these, a total of 150 seats will see PN seeking to wrest them from incumbents Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional.
PN's PAS currently rules Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, where a total of 113 seats will be contested.
The remaining 132 seats are spread throughout Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, which are under PH.
PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said he was confident of a strong turnout.
“I think the people are very tired and angry with what is happening in the country,” he said at a press conference with PN component leaders Abdul Hadi Awang of PAS and Gerakan’s Dominic Lau.
“They are in dire need of help, as the unity government is not listening or acting for those who are badly affected.
“The turnout, I would expect that many are quite ready to come out and vote. They could use this as a referendum of how they feel about the government on the federal level.
“We hope, of course, that the turnout will be big and better than the 15th general election.”
