The police have confirmed that a statement was recorded from Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor yesterday in connection with his statement that Penang belongs to Kedah.

Police spokesman Noorsiah Saaduddin said the Classified Crime Investigation Unit from the Bukit Aman Crime Investigation Department recorded Sanusi's statement at the Kedah Menteri Besar’s office in Wisma Darul Aman, Alor Setar, yesterday.

"The police are currently in the process of completing the investigation papers before sending the report to the Attorney-General's Office soon, in line with the provisions under Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution," Noorsiah said in a statement last night.

Meanwhile, in Alor Setar, Sanusi said he was asked five questions when his statement was recorded.

Earlier this week, the police had received reports and investigation papers were opened in connection with statements made by Sanusi.

On May 29, Sanusi was reported as saying that Kedah and Penang do not have common borders because Penang still belongs to Kedah, and that only Perak and Perlis have state borders with Kedah.
