Abdul Hadi Awang (PN-Marang) told the government today that delaying allocations for areas and states under the opposition would not be in line with the aspirations of the Malaysia Madani administration.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, the PAS president said such an act would also be out of sync with the principles of Islam and democracy.
He said all parties were the people of whichever government takes over after an election.
"This is true democracy," he added.
"Don't tax all and take the produce of all states, including those held by the opposition, but then give different allocations in the course of your administration."
Several MPs from PN had voiced disappointment over the lack of allocations for opposition representatives after the retabling of Budget 2023 last week.
NGOs such as Bersih also criticised the budget, saying it was not in line with the previous reform efforts of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim or his concept of Malaysia Madani.
Hadi also said that giving subsidies to farmers and fishermen would not change their situation as the money meant for their use never reached them.
He added that the latest developments showed that the majority of Malays and Bumiputeras in rural areas were supportive of Perikatan Nasional and other parties from Sabah and Sarawak.
He said while Pakatan Harapan had obtained the support of those in urban areas, this excluded the support of the Malays.
"So the move by the PH government to turn its back on areas under PN and in Sabah and Sarawak will not change PN's situation," he said.
"Even though PN only ruled for a short time during the pandemic, it was still able to bring about some change."
