The domestic trade and cost of living ministry is discussing the provision of incentives to the operators of eateries which provide Menu Rahmah meals to customers.

Deputy Minister Fuziah Salleh said the talks were still at an early stage, and that the form of incentives had not been decided.

"We have yet to announce the incentives as the matter is still being discussed.

"Maybe (for example) a mamak shop needs workers, so in that sense, we will help to get additional workers.

"We have not put any fiscal value in the incentive. The Menu Rahmah initiative is voluntary, where entrepreneurs can jointly develop an ecosystem which understands the problems faced by the people in dealing with the cost of living," she said at a press conference in Johor Bahru today.

Fuziah said the ministry was also ready to negotiate and help entrepreneurs who want to prepare Menu Rahmah meals, in terms of getting supplies of raw materials.

On eateries and restaurant operators which limit the sale of Menu Rahmah meals to certain hours, Fuziah said although the initiative was voluntary, operators were expected to announce the sales hours so that customers do not miss out.
