Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reminded his Cabinet members not to get in the way of rescue efforts after Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said several ministers were told to visit the site of a landslide at a campsite in Genting Highlands which has so far killed eight people.

"I was also informed that the ministers involved will come down to the location this morning. However, I advise them not to disturb the search and rescue work," he said in a statement.

At least eight people have died in the landslide that occurred at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite, situated along a trunk road connecting Batang Kali and Genting Highlands.

Earlier, Fahmi said Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming would be visiting the site of the tragedy.

Anwar meanwhile said he would visit the site tonight.
