Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin has rubbished claims that the coalition is urging PAS members to support a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in Johor, following the circulation of a WhatsApp screenshot showing a purported conversation on the issue.

"This screenshot is fake," he said in a Facebook post today.

The screenshot shows a conversation in a group titled "PN Johor 2022", in which a user named "TSMY" said that PN would need BN's support to form the government after the polls.

"TSMY" also instructed for the message to be circulated among the grassroots.

Speculation has been rife about post-election collaboration between coalitions as no single group is expected to win enough support to form the government on its own.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan was recently reported as saying that he was confident PN would be able to form the government in cooperation with other parties, in particular BN.

However, he later clarified that he had full confidence that PN would be able to form the government on its own, led by a prime minister from the coalition.

This is the first general election for PN since its formation. The coalition consists of Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan and two Sabah-based parties.
