MetMalaysia gives weather forecast for election day

Fair weather is expected in several states although thunderstorms and rain are predicted in most places in the evening.

The weather on polling day for the 15th general election on Saturday is expected to be good in the morning in several states, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

On its website, the department is forecasting no rain in the morning in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

However, thunderstorms and rain are predicted in most states in the evening, especially in the east coast states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan as well as the northern states of Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak which will experience rain and thunderstorms in the morning and evening.

Only Putrajaya is expected to have fair weather in the morning and evening while Labuan will experience thunderstorms in several areas in the morning and evening.

The weather for Sarawak on Saturday morning should be fair but thunderstorms are expected to occur in one or two places in the interior in the evening while Sabah is expected to experience thunderstorms in one or two places in the morning and evening.

The temperature nationwide is expected to be around 22 degrees Celsius with a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius on that day.
