An aide to Amirudin Shari has denied that the Selangor menteri besar told Bersatu's Mohamed Azmin Ali that he was being sent "to be slaughtered" in contesting against the latter in Gombak.
Jay Jay Denis (pic) said Azmin's claim was "another in his series of lies since February 2020".
"Azmin should begin to repent because the people are judging and will reject dishonourable leaders who are unable to speak the truth," he told MalaysiaNow in a brief statement.
Messages to Amirudin himself have gone unanswered, although texts to his WhatsApp were marked as delivered and read.
Yesterday, PKR chief Anwar Ibrahim gave strong indication that Amirudin, widely seen as Azmin's protege when he was the party's deputy president, would be fielded in Gombak.
But earlier this week, Azmin, a three-term Gombak MP, said Amirudin had called him last month to inform him of what he thought was the real agenda behind the move.
"He said, 'I have been asked to stand in Gombak. I know, this is to slaughter me in Gombak'," he told a Perikatan Nasional event hosted by PAS in Taman Melewar, Gombak, referring to the conversation with Amirudin.
