New cases dip again to 27,200 as 43 more deaths recorded

There are now 298,976 active cases, of which 1.3% are at quarantine centres while 2.6% have been hospitalised.

Another 27,299 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 3,395,170.

Of the total number of cases recorded yesterday, 129 (0.47%) were in Category Three and above. The remaining 27,170 (99.53%) were in Category One and Two.

There were 22,710 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 3,063,560.

A total of 1,624 cases were admitted to hospital yesterday, with 598 (36.8%) in Category Three and above and 1,026 (63.2%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 129 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 32 (24.81%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 71 (55.04%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 26 (20.16%) had received a booster jab;
* 65 (50.39%) were aged 60 and above;
* 35 (27.13%) had comorbidities; and
* 1 (0.78%) was a pregnant woman.

There are now 298,976 active cases, of which 286,959 or 96.0% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 3,758 (1.3%) are at quarantine centres while 7,911 (2.6%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 348 are in ICU with 203 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 60.8%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 41.1%.

Another 43 deaths were reported, including 13 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 32,634.

The country’s infectivity rate as of Feb 26 was 1.08.
