New cases dip to 26,832 with 37 more deaths logged

There are now 251,678 active cases, of which 238,620 or 94.8% are undergoing home quarantine.

Another 26,832 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 3,221,680.

Of the total number of cases recorded yesterday, 133 (0.5%) were in Category Three and above. The remaining 26,699 (99.5%) were in Category One and Two.

There were 18,459 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 2,937,655.

A total of 1,438 cases were admitted to hospital yesterday, with 485 (33.7%) in Category Three and above and 953 (66.3%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 133 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 29 (21.80%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 75 (56.39%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 29 (21.80%) had received a booster jab;
* 62 (46.62%) were aged 60 and above;
* 47 (35.34%) had comorbidities;
* 6 (4.51%) were pregnant women; and
* 11 had died, including 6 who were brought in dead.

There are now 251,678 active cases, of which 238,620 or 94.8% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 5,287 (2.1%) are at quarantine centres while 7,524 (3.0%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 261 are in ICU with 139 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 57.2%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 29.7%.

Another 37 deaths were reported, including 10 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 32,347.

According to health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the country’s infectivity rate as of Feb 20 was 1.19.
