New cases inch past 27,800 as 36 more deaths reported

There are now 233,065 active cases, of which 219,696 or 94.3% are undergoing home quarantine.

Another 27,808 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 3,166,023.

Of the total number of cases recorded yesterday, 103 (0.37%) were in Category Three and above. The remaining 27,705 (99.63%) were in Category One and Two.

There were 12,488 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 2,900,682.

Of the 103 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 43 (41.75%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 41 (39.81%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 19 (18.45%) had received a booster jab;
* 50 (48.54%) were aged 60 and above;
* 44 (42.72%) had comorbidities;
* 1 (0.97%%) was a pregnant woman; and
* 16 (15.53%) had died, including 9 (8.74%) who were brought in dead.

There are now 233,065 active cases, of which 219,696 or 94.3% are undergoing home quarantine.

Another 5,476 (2.3%) are at quarantine centres while 7,658 (3.3%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 235 are in ICU with 132 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 56.6%, with Covid-19 utilisation at 28.4%.

Another 36 deaths were reported, including 11 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 32,276.

According to health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the country’s infectivity rate as of Feb 18 was 1.24.
