Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin today said he might not defend his state seat of Gambir at the upcoming Johor state polls.
The Bersatu chief who is also the Perikatan Nasional chairman said he wanted to focus on managing the party at the parliamentary level.
“I want to give opportunities to other leaders in Johor and it is up to them whom to choose. We will decide later,” he said after chairing a Bersatu meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
Muhyiddin, a former Johor menteri besar who led the state for about a decade, has been the MP of Pagoh since 1978.
He also contested the Gambir state seat in the last general election, beating candidates from Barisan Nasional and PAS.
