Lim Kok Wing, founding president of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, died today at 75.

Lim, who founded the university in 1991, was admitted to Pantai Hospital a week ago.

Rumours of his death had circulated last month although the university said then that he had suffered a fall at his home.

“We are humbled by the loving condolences and support extended by so many, and ask for privacy as we mourn a man we are very proud of,” it said in a statement today.

Lim, an artist, designer, author, entrepreneur, educationist and philanthropist, had been recognised by the government as the Father of Innovation in Creative Education.

His university was the first private college in the country to be recognised as a university college, an acknowledegment which came in 2002.

It became a full-fledged university five years later in 2007.

“A visionary, his career was synonymous with creativity, and he assisted in developing innovative education globally, empowering especially the developing world,” the university said.
