A woman cheated death today when a concrete slab from the construction of the Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway fell and hit her car.

Cheras District Police chief ACP Mohd Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said the woman had been driving along the Middle Ring Road 2 from Sungai Besi heading towards Ampang.

She was nearing a petrol station in Bandar Tasik Selatan when the concrete slab measuring one metre square fell on her car.

However, she escaped with injuries to her left hand.

“The 25-year-old woman, who was driving a Proton Saga BLM, was rescued by members of the public before being sent to the Tuanku Muhkriz Chancellor Hospital for treatment,” he told Bernama.

He added that it took two hours after the incident to divert the traffic and reopen all lanes.
