Efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 continue.

Four schools in Tawau have been closed until Sunday for disinfection as a preventive measure against the spread of Covid-19 in the district.

District health officer Dr G Navindran said the schools in question are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jambatan Putih, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jambatan Putih, SK Kukusan and SK Bahagia.

When contacted, he said further developments would be announced in time.

As of yesterday, a total of 84 Covid-19 cases were recorded at Tawau prison.

The Tawau district health office also denied a message circulating on social media about the temporary closure of 30 premises for disinfection. The message also claimed that the staff had been told to undergo screening for Covid-19.

Navindran said the message was an old memo that had resurfaced, adding that it had nothing to do with the cases at Tawau prison.
