Beijing has been grappling with a looming demographic crisis amid a rapidly ageing workforce, slowing economy and the country's weakest population growth in decades.

For the 12 months ended July 1, the population of the US grew by 392,665 or just 0.1%, 'the lowest rate since the nation's founding,' according to the Census Bureau.

The number of live births has also seen a decrease to its lowest level in a decade.

Many are heading to Malaysia, Thailand and Australia for the procedure.
