Indonesia hits new high in daily Covid-19 numbers

Overall positive cases rose to 257,388 while 109,541 patients are still being monitored for the virus.

Indonesia has reported 4,465 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, its highest daily record since the first case was detected in the republic on March 2.

Based on data published on the official Twitter site of the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management today, overall positive cases rose to 257,388 while 109,541 patients are still being monitored for the virus.

From 12 noon yesterday to 12 noon today, another 140 deaths occurred, bringing the cumulative total to 9,977 people.

The province of Jakarta which came under large-scale social restrictions regulation for two weeks from Sept 14, still has the highest overall number of positive cases in the republic with 65,687 cases, 1,333 of which are new.

East Java recorded the highest fatalities with 3,035 cases followed by Jakarta (1,628) and Central Java (1,334).
