Najib Razak’s review application to reverse his conviction and sentence for the misappropriation of RM42 million in SRC International funds has been fixed for case management at the Federal Court on Oct 21.

The former prime minister’s lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said this during another of Najib's case managements on three money laundering charges involving RM27 million in SRC International funds today before High Court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan.

At the outset, the judge asked Shafee whether he would be conducting Najib’s review application since his law firm, Messrs Shafee & Co, was previously discharged from representing Najib in his final appeal in the RM42 million SRC International case.

"I am," Shafee said. "I’m back on board after some hustle, but I'm back."

"You should have never left," Zaini responded, sparking laughter in the courtroom.

On July 26, Najib discharged Messrs Shafee & Co from representing him  with immediate effect in his final appeal against his conviction and sentence for the RM42 million SRC International case. Instead, he appointed Zaid Ibrahim Suflan TH Liew & Partners as his new legal representative.

On Aug 23, the Federal Court upheld the High Court's decision to convict Najib and sentence him to 12 years in jail with a fine of RM210 million in the RM42 million SRC International case.

Najib, through Messrs Shafee & Co, filed an application for a review against the Federal Court's ruling on Sept 6.

Najib, 69, is currently serving his sentence at Kajang Prison.
