Former prime minister Najib Razak arrived at the Kuala Lumpur High Court shortly before 9am today for his 1MDB audit report tampering trial.

He arrived at the court complex in a black SUV, accompanied by vehicles from the police and prisons department.

His wife, Rosmah Mansor, was also present at the court complex.

Najib is charged with using his position to order amendments to the final 1MDB audit report before it was presented to the Public Accounts Committee to avoid any action against him.

Former 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy meanwhile is charged with abetting Najib in making the amendments to the report to protect the Pekan MP from being subjected to action.

Two prosecution witnesses are expected to testify at today’s proceedings: Arul Kanda and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigation branch senior superintendent Haniff Lami.

Najib was sent to Kajang Prison on Aug 23 after the Federal Court upheld his 12-year jail sentence and RM210 million fine for the misappropriation of RM42 million in SRC International funds.

Yesterday, the former prime minister was present at court for his 1MDB trial proceedings before High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah.
