New infections pass 5,600 as death toll up by 8

Another 5,685 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,635,648.

There were 3,337 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 4,554,286.

There are now 45,484 active cases, of which 43,858 or 96.4% are undergoing home quarantine. 

Meanwhile, 39 (0.1%) are at quarantine centres while 1,531 (3.4%) have been hospitalised. 

A total of 56 are in ICU with 35 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 63.1%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 13.9%.

Another eight deaths were reported, including five who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 35,878.
