New infections drop to 1,690, no new deaths in first since December 2020

There were 2,108 recoveries, leaving 25,944 active cases.

Another 1,690 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,540,612.

There were 2,108 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 4,478,936.

There are now 25,944 active cases, of which 24,906 or 96.0% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 15 (0.1%) are at quarantine centres while 1,000 (3.9%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 23 are in ICU with 15 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 58.7%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 5.2%.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the death toll unchanged at 35,732.

The last time Malaysia reported zero daily deaths due to Covid-19 was Dec 18, 2020.
