Daily caseload creeps over 9,000 as another 30 deaths logged

A total of 151 are in ICU with 97 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 9,002 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,342,559.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 67 were in Category Three and above.

There were 16,986 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 4,180,763.

A total of 394 cases were admitted to hospital, with 162 (41.1%) in Category Three and above and 232 (58.9%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 67 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 9 (13.43%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 22 (32.84%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 36 (53.73%) had received a booster jab;
* 40 (59.70%) were aged 60 and above; and
* 41 (61.19%) had comorbidities.

There are now 126,455 active cases, of which 123,341 or 97.5% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 288 (0.2%) are at quarantine centres while 2,675 (2.1%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 151 are in ICU with 97 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 53.0%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 17.5%.

Another 30 deaths were reported, including six who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 35,341.

The country’s infectivity rate as of April 12 was 0.84.
