New cases dip to 7,700 as 19 more deaths reported

Another 7,739 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,333,557.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 67 were in Category Three and above.

There were 19,049 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 4,163,777.

A total of 427 cases were admitted to hospital, with 187 (43.8%) in Category Three and above and 240 (56.2%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 67 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 24 (35.82%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 16 (23.88%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 27 (40.30%) had received a booster jab;
* 36 (53.73%) were aged 60 and above;
* 42 (62.69%) had comorbidities; and
* 1 (1.49%) was a pregnant woman.

There are now 134,469 active cases, of which 131,235 or 97.6% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 266 (0.2%) are at quarantine centres while 2,794 (2.1%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 174 are in ICU with 102 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 54.3%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 20.2%.

Another 19 deaths were reported, including three who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 35,311.

The country’s infectivity rate as of April 11 was 0.84.
