Daily caseload drops to 12,300 as another 30 deaths reported

There are now 192,947 active cases throughout the country.

Another 12,380 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,246,467.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 85 were in Category Three and above.

There were 20,635 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 4,018,421.

A total of 562 cases were admitted to hospital, with 220 (39.1%) in Category Three and above and 342 (60.9%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 85 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 24 (28.24%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 33 (38.82%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 28 (32.94%) had received a booster jab;
* 57 (67.06%) were aged 60 and above; and
* 49 (57.65%) had comorbidities.

There are now 192,947 active cases, of which 188,534 or 97.7% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 478 (0.2%) are at quarantine centres while 3,682 (1.9%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 253 are in ICU with 157 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 55.3%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 28.7%.

Another 30 deaths were reported, including 11 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 35,099.

The country’s infectivity rate as of April 3 was 0.85.
