Daily caseload crosses 18,500 as another 44 deaths reported

Another 18,560 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,201,919.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 125 were in Category Three and above.

There were 18,253 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 3,960,082.

A total of 750 cases were admitted to hospital, with 322 (42.9%) in Category Three and above and 428 (57.1%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 125 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 34 (27.20%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 50 (40.00%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 41 (32.80%) had received a booster jab;
* 67 (53.60%) were aged 60 and above; and
* 66 (52.80%) had comorbidities.

There are now 206,854 active cases, of which 201,420 or 97.4% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 646 (0.3%) are at quarantine centres while 4,521 (2.2%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 267 are in ICU with 164 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 56.9%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 30.3%.

Another 44 deaths were reported, including eight who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 34,983.

The country’s infectivity rate as of March 31 was 0.87.
