New cases drop to 16,800 as 37 more deaths logged

ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 56.9%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 33.9%.

Another 16,863 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,138,867.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 100 were in Category Three and above.

There were 26,171 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 3,870,937.

A total of 850 cases were admitted to hospital, with 362 (42.6%) in Category Three and above and 488 (57.4%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 100 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 30 (30.00%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 44 (44.00%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 26 (26.00%) had received a booster jab;
* 69 (69.00%) were aged 60 and above; and
* 63 (63.00%) had comorbidities.

There are now 233,179 active cases, of which 226,656 or 97.2% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 1,032 (0.4%) are at quarantine centres while 5,192 (2.2%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 299 are in ICU with 187 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 56.9%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 33.9%.

Another 37 deaths were reported, including six who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 34,751.

The country’s infectivity rate as of March 27 was 0.93.
