Daily caseload crosses 24,300 as 64 more deaths logged

Another 24,316 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,079,242.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 152 were in Category Three and above.

There were 25,512 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 3,796,975.

A total of 1,264 cases were admitted to hospital, with 487 (38.5%) in Category Three and above and 777 (61.5%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 152 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 43 (28.29%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 61 (40.13%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 48 (31.58%) had received a booster jab;
* 81 (53.29%) were aged 60 and above; and
* 76 (50.00%) had comorbidities.

There are now 247,603 active cases, of which 239,934 or 96.9% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 1,329 (0.5%) are at quarantine centres while 6,019 (2.4%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 321 are in ICU with 194 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 58.4%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 36.4%.

Another 64 deaths were reported, including 18 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 34,664.

The country’s infectivity rate as of March 24 was 0.91.
