New cases top 21,400 as 73 more deaths logged

ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 58.1%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 38.3%.

Another 21,483 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,032,435.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 166 were in Category Three and above.

There were 32,561 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 3,745,229.

A total of 1,339 cases were admitted to hospital, with 553 (41.3%) in Category Three and above and 786 (58.7%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 166 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 51 (30.72%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 64 (38.55%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 51 (30.72%) had received a booster jab;
* 91 (54.82%) were aged 60 and above;
* 96 (57.83%) had comorbidities; and
* 2 (1.20%) were pregnant women.

There are now 252,671 active cases, of which 244,262 or 96.7% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 1,453 (0.6%) are at quarantine centres while 6,617 (2.6%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 339 are in ICU with 209 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 58.1%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 38.3%.

Another 73 deaths were reported, including 25 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 34,535.

The country’s infectivity rate as of March 22 was 0.91.
