Daily cases drop to 17,800 as another 63 deaths logged

There are now 263,821 active cases, of which 96.7% are undergoing home quarantine.

Another 17,828 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,010,952.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 156 were in Category Three and above.

There were 28,003 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 3,712,668.

A total of 1,260 cases were admitted to hospital, with 523 (41.5%) in Category Three and above and 737 (58.5%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 156 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 33 (21.15%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 64 (41.03%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 59 (37.82%) had received a booster jab;
* 109 (69.87%) were aged 60 and above; and
* 91 (58.33%) had comorbidities.

There are now 263,821 active cases, of which 255,133 or 96.7% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 1,447 (0.5%) are at quarantine centres while 6,883 (2.6%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 358 are in ICU with 199 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 59.0%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 40.4%.

Another 63 deaths were reported, including 21 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 34,463.

The country’s infectivity rate as of March 21 was 0.92.
