Daily caseload drops below 20,000 as 71 more deaths logged

There are now 274,059 active cases, of which 96.7% are undergoing home quarantine, 0.6% are at quarantine centnres and 2.6% have been hospitalised.

Another 19,105 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 3,993,124.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 193 were in Category Three and above.

There were 28,250 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 3,684,665.

A total of 1,239 cases were admitted to hospital, with 526 (42.5%) in Category Three and above and 713 (57.5%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 193 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 58 (30.05%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 78 (40.41%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 57 (29.53%) had received a booster jab;
* 92 (47.67%) were aged 60 and above; and
* 81 (41.97%) had comorbidities.

There are now 274,059 active cases, of which 264,985 or 96.7% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 1,623 (0.6%) are at quarantine centres while 7,080 (2.6%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 371 are in ICU with 203 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 58.4%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 41.9%.

Another 71 deaths were reported, including 26 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 34,400.

The country’s infectivity rate as of March 20 was 0.93.
