New cases inch past 27,000 as another 86 deaths reported

Another 27,004 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 3,927,437.

There were 29,450 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 3,596,453.

There are now 296,799 active cases, of which 286,599 or 96.6% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 1,971 (0.7%) are at quarantine centres while 7,856 (2.6%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 373 are in ICU with 225 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 58.7%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 42.1%.

Another 86 deaths were reported, including 35 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 34,185.
