The political cooperation between Umno and PAS through Muafakat Nasional (MN) has not ended, Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan says, admitting however that both parties appear to be edging towards a final chapter.

“But we have to be clear here that we will only be with those loyal to us, not with those who play many sides as this would cause confusion which would end up with us being confused as well,” he told a media conference after officiating at the simultaneous opening of Umno’s Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings assemblies in Kuala Lumpur last night.

Mohamad was asked about the current direction of the MN charter signed by Umno and PAS on Sept 14, 2019.

Asked whether PAS was invited to this year’s Umno general assembly, Mohamad said space constraints and SOPs have not allowed for this.

On the next general election, he said the party wants it to be held as soon as possible.

“As the party election director, I plan the strategies so that the party wins elections. Now is the time for us to strike, so let us hold discussions at the higher level, (on) what is good and what is not, what could be beneficial and what could be detrimental to the party,” he said.
