Another 27,179 Covid-19 cases, 43 deaths recorded

There are now 267,084 active cases, of which 7,574 (2.8%) have been hospitalised.

Another 27,179 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 3,273,958.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 172 (0.63%) were in Category Three and above. The remaining 27,007 (99.37%) were in Category One and Two.

There were 19,037 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 2,974,441.

A total of 1,520 cases were admitted to hospital yesterday, with 545 (35.9%) in Category Three and above and 975 (64.1%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 172 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 51 (29.65%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 91 (52.91%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 30 (17.44%) had received a booster jab;
* 67 (38.95%) were aged 60 and above;
* 93 (54.07%) had comorbidities; and
* 6 (3.49%) were pregnant women.

There are now 267,084 active cases, of which 254,520 or 95.3% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 4,704 (1.8%) are at quarantine centres while 7,574 (2.8%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 286 are in ICU with 180 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 59.6%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 34.2%.

Another 43 deaths were reported, including 20 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 32,433.

According to health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the country’s infectivity rate as of Feb 22 was 1.15.
