4.8% of children given first Covid-19 vaccine jab

Meanwhile, 56.4% of adults have received a booster shot.

A total of 169,710 children aged five to 11, or 4.8% of the group, had received a first dose of Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday.

They were given the vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids), launched on Feb 3, and will receive the second dose within eight weeks.

According to the CovidNow portal, a total of 13,258,893 individuals or 56.4% of adults had also received a booster dose as of yesterday.

A total of 22,936,644 or 97.5% have completed their vaccination while 23,212,859 individuals or 98.7% have received at least one dose of vaccine.

In terms of teenagers, a total of 2,795,507 or 89.8% have completed their vaccination while 2,874,510 or 92.3% have received at least one dose of vaccine.

Yesterday, a total of 118,875 vaccine doses were dispensed comprising 35,441 first doses, 649 second shots and 82,785 booster jabs.

This brings the cumulative number of vaccine doses administered under PICK to 65,042,686.

Meanwhile, according to the health ministry’s GitHub portal, a total of 11 deaths due to Covid-19 were reported yesterday – five in Sabah, four in Johor and one each in Kelantan and Pahang.
