Broker detained in probe into falsified documents worth RM24 million in contract for combat ships

He is believed to have submitted the documents to a shipping company through three other firms.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a broker to assist in investigations into the submission of documents containing false details estimated to be worth RM24 million in relation to the procurement contract for six coastal combat ships.

According to sources, the remand application for five days from today to Jan 30 was allowed by magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim at the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court this morning.

The sources said the 62-year-old man was arrested at about 9.30pm at the Putrajaya MACC headquarters yesterday where he had gone for questioning.

It is understood that he is believed to have submitted the documents to a shipping company through three other firms.

The investigation is being conducted in accordance with Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
