‘Long Tiger’ recaptured in Kedah after escape from lock-up

His re-arrest comes some two weeks after he fled from the Tangkak Magistrate's Court while waiting for his case to begin.

Police today said that a 32-year-old Rohingya man known as “Long Tiger” who recently escaped from a court lock-up in Johor had been re-arrested in Kedah.

“I can confirm that he was arrested at about 3pm today in Kedah,” Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani told Bernama.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Abd Jalil Hassan said a media statement on the arrest would be issued by Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

Long Tiger, whose real name is Abdul Hamim Ab Hamid, fled from the Tangkak Magistrate’s Court at 11.55am on Dec 15 while waiting for his case under Section 388 of the Penal Code to begin.
