40 reported Covid deaths take toll to 30,614

A quarter of these were brought-in-dead cases.

Another 40 Covid-related deaths were reported on Dec 5, taking the cumulative death toll in the country to 30,614.

According to the health ministry’s Github data repository, 10 or 25% of these were brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Johor had the highest number of reported deaths at eight or 20% followed by Perak at six or 15%.

Kedah reported five deaths; Sabah, Selangor and Terengganu reported four deaths each; while Sarawak reported three deaths.

Pahang reported two deaths while Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Penang reported one death each.

No deaths were reported in Perlis, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

A total of 4,298 new cases were reported yesterday, taking the overall total to 2,658,772.

As of yesterday, there were 61,999 active Covid-19 cases reported and 4,929 recoveries.
