PH won’t contest under same banner for Sarawak polls

Each party will contest using its own logo.

Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) today announced that the coalition’s component parties will not contest under the same banner at the state election on Dec 18.

Speaking at a press conference in Kuching, Sarawak PH chairman Chong Chieng Jen said parties would contest under their respective banners.

“DAP will use its rocket logo while PKR and Amanah will use their party logos,” the Sarawak DAP chairman said.

Chong said the decision was made at a special meeting of the PH leadership in the state on strategies to face the coming election.

When asked about seat allocations for PKR, he said PH had finalised the distribution of seats.

“It has already been broken down, long ago. It was agreed – 47 seats.”

Early this year, Chong said that Sarawak PKR would contest 47 seats, DAP 26 and Amanah nine.

The 47 seats to be contested by PKR were: Opar, Tanjung Dato, Pantai Damai, Tupong, Satok, Batu Lintang, Asajaya, Serembu, Tarat, Tebedu, Sadong Jaya, Simunjan, Lingga, Beting Maro, Balai Ringin, Bukit Begunan, Engkilili, Batang Ai, Saribas, Layar, Bukit Saban, Kalaka, Krian, Daro, Pakan, Meluan, Ngemah, Machan, Nangka, Dalat, Tellian, Balingian, Tamin, Kakus, Katibas, Belaga, Murum, Jepak, Bekenu, Lambir, Marudi, Telang Usan, Mulu, Bukit Kota, Batu Danau, Ba Kelalan and Bukit Sari.

DAP’s 26 meanwhile were Tasik Biru, Padungan, Pending, Kota Sentosa, Batu Kitang, Batu Kawah, Stakan, Mambong, Kedup, Bukit Semuja, Simanggang, Repok, Meradong, Bukit Assek, Dudong, Bawang Assan, Pelawan, Pelagus, Bukit Goram, Baleh, Tanjong Batu, Kemena, Samalaju, Piasau, Pujut and Senadin.

Amanah’s nine seats meanwhile were Demak Laut, Samariang, Muara Tuang, Gedong, Sebuyau, Kabong, Kuala Rajang, Semop and Jemoreng.
