Sarawak sees highest daily reported deaths yet

The 28 deaths reported today include 25 backlogged cases dating back to Sept 30.

Sarawak today reported 28 deaths from Covid-19 including backlogged cases, its highest number of daily reported fatalities since the start of the pandemic.

The state disaster management committee said 25 deaths were backlogged, with nine occurring on Oct 10, seven on Oct 9, six on Oct 8, two on Oct 7 and one on Sept 30.

According to the health ministry’s Github data repository, the number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care in Sarawak has increased dramatically since August, with 108 active cases.

Hospital admissions and ICU bed utilisation has remained on the uptrend since August.

Sarawak also has seen an upward trend in number of patients requiring ventilation since August while sampling for Covid-19 in the state dropped in September.

According to the CovidNow website, out of 108 patients in ICU, 48 require ventilation.
