Restaurants and eateries across the country may soon be allowed to operate from 6am to midnight regardless of which phase states are in under the National Recovery Plan, Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said today.

The same will apply for petrol stations and convenience shops, except for premises in areas under enhanced movement control order, he said.

He added that a proposal for this will be raised at the Special Committee on Tackling Covid-19 chaired by the prime minister tomorrow.

Speaking to reporters after the second meeting of the Covid-19 Quartet Ministers, he said it was important for these sectors to be allowed to resume operations as Malaysia geared up for the endemic phase of Covid-19.
