New cases drop again to just over 16,000

In terms of caseload, Selangor falls to third place behind Sarawak and Johor.

Another 16,073 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,995,771.

Sarawak recorded 3,522 cases, Johor 2,030, Selangor 1,947, Sabah 1,649, Penang 1,243, Kedah 1,191, Kelantan 1,070 and Perak 1,011.

Pahang recorded 878 cases, Terengganu 704, Kuala Lumpur 398, Melaka 206 and Negeri Sembilan 156.

Perlis recorded 41 cases, Putrajaya 16 and Labuan 11.

Another 24,813 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries to 1,746,526.

Meanwhile 1,312 are in the ICU, including 967 confirmed Covid-19 patients and 345 suspected and probable cases as well as cases under investigation.

A total of 698 are in need of respiratory assistance including 444 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
