New cases top 21,000

Another 21,176 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,940,950.

Sarawak recorded 3,734 cases, Selangor 3,595, Johor 2,297, Sabah 2,246, Penang 1,939, Kedah 1,808, Perak 1,366, and Kelantan 1,254.

Pahang recorded 853 cases, Terengganu 776, Melaka 485, Kuala Lumpur 467 and Negeri Sembilan 252.

Perlis recorded 77 cases, Putrajaya 21 and Labuan six.

Active cases stand at 242,161.

A total of 1,310 are in ICU, of which 935 are confirmed as Covid-positive and 375 are suspected and probable cases as well as cases under investigation.

A total of 773 are in need of respiratory assistance, of which 455 are Covid-positive.

Another 21,476 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries to 1,678,962.

However, 341 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 19,827.
