The government has begun rolling out Covid-19 vaccinations for teenagers.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says teenagers in Labuan and the Klang Valley will receive their Covid-19 jabs after Sarawak, which began vaccinating those under 18 today.

In a Twitter post, he said the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee had given approval for teenagers to be inoculated against the virus.

“Sarawak will begin today starting with 16-17-year-olds and 12-15-year-olds who are at high risk or with chronic medical conditions.

“Labuan and Klang Valley will follow shortly. We will be giving the Pfizer vax,” he said.

Some 76,400 teenagers in Sarawak began receiving their vaccine jabs today.

The group comprises those aged 16 to 17 as well as those aged 12 to 15 who have high-risk diseases.

Khairy said yesterday that they would be given the same vaccine dosage as adults.

“After this initial group, the vaccine will be administered in stages to those aged 14 and 15, followed by those aged 12 to 13,” he said.
