Total deaths top 18,000 as daily cases creep past 20,000

Another 20,396 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,844,835.

Selangor recorded 3,886 cases, Sarawak 3,747, Johor 2,165, Sabah 2,136, Penang 1,961, Kedah 1,587, Kelantan 1,078 and Perak 1,057.

Terengganu recorded 861 cases, Kuala Lumpur 597, Pahang 486, Melaka 459 and Negeri Sembilan 269.

Perlis recorded 78 cases, Putrajaya 25 and Labuan four.

Active cases stand at 255,789 with 959 in the ICU and 436 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 20,573 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries to 1,570,827.

However, 336 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 18,219.
