Daily cases drop to just over 20,000 as death toll crosses 16,000

Just over 4,500 cases in Selangor, 2,500 in Sabah and Sarawak.

Another 20,579 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,706,089.

Selangor recorded 4,591 cases, Sabah 2,578, Sarawak 2,522, Johor 1,852, Kedah 1,755, Penang 1,378, Kelantan 1,316 and Perak 1,208.

Pahang recorded 839 cases, Terengganu 789, Kuala Lumpur 680, Melaka 636 and Negeri Sembilan 329.

Perlis recorded 56 cases, Putrajaya recorded 48 and Labuan two.

Active cases stand at 267,997 with 1,009 in the ICU and 477 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 20,845 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries to 1,422,005.

However, 285 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 16,087.
