Daily cases surge past 24,500 as 393 deaths push toll over 15,000

Just under 7,000 cases in Selangor, nearly 3,500 in Sabah.

Another 24,599 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,640,843.

Selangor recorded 6,936 cases, Sabah 3,487, Johor 2,785, Penang 2,078, Sarawak 2,024, Kedah 1,538, Kelantan 1,312 and Perak 1,170.

Kuala Lumpur recorded 881 cases, Pahang 690, Terengganu 567, Negeri Sembilan 526 and Melaka 515.

Perlis recorded 67 cases, Putrajaya 20 and Labuan three.

Active cases stand at 265,841 with 990 in the ICU and 487 in need of respiratory asssistance.

Another 22,657 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries to 1,359,791.

However, 393 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 15,211.
