Jump in daily cases past 22,000

Another 22,642 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,616,244.

Selangor recorded 6,325 cases, Sabah 3,224, Kedah 2,279, Johor 1,832, Sarawak 1,667, Penang 1,427, Kelantan 1,424, Perak 1,390 and Kuala Lumpur 1,128.

Terengganu recorded 744 cases, Pahang 522, Melaka 342 and Negeri Sembilan 269.

Perlis recorded 44 cases, Putrajaya 21 and Labuan four.

Active cases stand at 264,292 with 1,003 in the ICU and 490 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 20,798 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries to 1,337,134.

However, 265 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 14,818.
