Daily cases shoot past 22,200 to new high

Another 22,242 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,466,512.

Selangor recorded 6,858 cases, Sabah 2,413, Penang 1,867, Kedah 1,852, Kuala Lumpur 1,587, Johor 1,477, Sarawak 1,403, Kelantan 1,351 and Perak 1,036.

Pahang recorded 675 cases, Melaka 579, Negeri Sembilan 577 and Terengganu 487.

Perlis recorded 50 cases, Putrajaya 25 and Labuan five.

Active cases stand at 254,484 with 1,060 in the ICU and 540 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 19,680 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries to 1,198,726.

However, 225 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 13,302.
