A copy of a letter from the Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Harun has been mysteriously leaked to several media outlets by the office of a prominent opposition party leader, raising questions on whether the confidentiality of communication involving the palace has been compromised.

MalaysiaNow has learnt that the leaked letter in PDF format was made available by an aide to the politician to several editors in both the broadcast media and online portals.

However, it appears that the copy of the letter which has since been shared on the internet is not the copy received by Azhar, as it does not carry a stamp of receipt by the speaker’s office.

MalaysiaNow has contacted Fadil for clarification over how the letter could have surfaced in public.

While the letter is now public knowledge, MalaysiaNow is not at liberty to report on its contents.

A similar question was raised late last month when a PKR MP in Perlis shared the image of a letter purportedly penned by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

As of press time, the post by Kangar MP Amin Ahmad sharing the letter had yet to be taken down despite the personal nature of the document.
