New cases fall below 18,000

Just over 5,700 cases recorded in Selangor.

Another 17,236 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,279,776.

Selangor recorded 5,740 cases, Kuala Lumpur 1,567, Kedah 1,328, Sabah 1,247, Johor 1,232 and Negeri Sembilan 1,215.

Perak recorded 935 cases, Kelantan 914, Penang 908, Pahang 604, Sarawak 589, Terengganu 501 and Melaka 360.

Putrajaya recorded 66 cases, Perlis 22 and Labuan eight.

Active cases stand at 227,230 with 1,095 in the ICU and 579 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 15,187 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 1,041,585.

However, 212 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 10,961.
